Punk #1

Blank Generation was named after a song by Richard Hell & the Voidoids, the infamous punk rocker. Punk rock is probably my favourite genre as I relate to the culture, the lyrics and so forth much more than what I do to the likes of ambient or free jazz. So here are three great punk records that I love.
Godz - Contact High With The Godz (1966)

Genre; Psychedelic Rock, Freak Folk, Psychedelic Folk

Electroacoustic #1

Electroacoustics is a fascinating and complex genre that I've recently just started listening to. I'm not knowledgable in the genre but here are three of my favourite electroacoustic records that I've heard over the last few weeks.

Part 1
Part 2
Part 3

Krautrock #1; Can, Popul Vuh, La Dusseldorf

Similar to my occassional jazz posts (#3 will be up shortly), here are three fantastic krautrock records of vintage german psychedelia and progressive rock that have been pumping through my stereo recently.

Sunn O)))

You may or may not have noticed on this blog that drone records are being posted more frequently than ever. Drone has been a genre that I've been exploring a lot recently and here, rather than two seperate posts from the same artist, I'm going to post two albums from droners Sunn O))). I was first exposed to Sunn O))) last year with their Monoliths and Dimensions which, by the end of the year, revealed itself to be one of the better records of the year. Here we have two older works of Sunn O))), both of which I consider to be great and a fantastic beginning if you are new to the genre.

VCR #6; Club Silencio

Here is one of my favourite scenes from the surreal, neo-noir psychological thriller Mulholland Drive, which was directed by David Lynch.

VCR #4 & #5; Japrock

VCR #4; Flower Travellin' Band

Here is a rare video of Japanese psychedelic rock band Flower Travellin' Band, on their last show.

VCR #5; Romance of the Black Grief

Les Rallizes Denudes are one of my favourite bands. Their intense and influential album '77 live reached 15th on my top 100 records of all time list. Here is more rare footage of them in this beautiful video.
